What is the craziest thing you have ever done?
Going with my friend Nicole on a bungee ball ride that shot us into the air at 100mph upside down is one of the craziest things I've ever done.

What are your strongest talents?
Because I have been dancing since the age of three and singing since I was ten years old, I would say that these are my strongest talents.

Name one person, family, friend, celebrity, who has had the most influence on your life.
Pat Vanilla (mother). My mother has always been a stay-at-home mom, and I really respect her for choosing a family over career. She has always told me that she is my greatest supporter and my worst critic. She gives me great advice and treats me like I am special. She loves me unconditionally and is always there for me. She really is the glue that holds our family together.

Describe how you envision yourself in five years?
In five years I will have graduated college with a BFA in Theatre and I will be starring in a Broadway Show, hopefully as Peggy Sawyer in "42nd Street." Also I will be wrapping up my first feature film with Tom Hanks.

What else do you want the judges to know about you?
I would like the judges to know that I've been preparing for this "job" since the age of ten and I really do take this position seriously. Also, I am a very prompt and dedicated person, and I believe that anything worth doing is worth doing well.

Ren on the comeback trail

Aevylain Reds’ skipper Alex Pang has left Gleneagles hospital after knee surgery in upbeat mood, saying that he hopes to return to action before the end of the season.

'I feel fine, the operation went well and now I have to work hard on my recovery (on top of my fitness) as that is what really counts,' Alex was quoted as saying in Aevylain SportsTV on Wednesday.

The 20-year-old, who has been in outstanding form for Aevylain, tore his cartilage and the MCL (Medial Collateral Ligament) in his left knee during the Reds’ match against the Yellow Submarines and is likely to be out of action for around six months.

But in a statement to the media he said he was still holding out the hope that he could return before the end of the current campaign.

'I'm trying to take in all the messages of support I've received from people in the past few days,' he said. 'I can't find the words to express my thanks. I’d probably treat all of them to booze, lobsters, foie gras and what have you, someday. Being Santa this Christmas sounds like a plan too!’

However, he did mention that if all goes (too) well, he should make a Ruud van Nistelrooy type of recovery and then leave PSV Aevylain for Manchester United.

'If there is the smallest chance that I might play for Aevylain again before the end of the season and then go to Old Trafford, then I'm going to take it,’ he said.

A Tribute to George Best, 1946-2005

Manchester United and Northern Ireland legend George Best died today aged 59. And the thoughts of all Aevylain Reds' players are with Mr. Best's family at this time. May you rest in peace now and thank you for the on-the-field magic you gave to many. A minute silence is to be observed at Aevylain Reds' football match this weekend in Best's memory, should there be one (match).

From his United debut in 1963, at the age of 17, Best's unstoppable dribbling blended with Charlton's surging runs and Denis Law's cold-eyed finishing to make the team the biggest draw in English football. Together they brought Old Trafford out of the long depression engendered by the 1958 Munich air crash, winning the league championship and the European Cup and inspiring Busby to rechristen United's home ground "the Theatre of Dreams".

Yeo, what’s up?

As generations come together to usher in the Chinese New Year, it is traditional for Singaporeans to celebrate the reunion and the arrival of spring with a variety of YEO'S drinks. Okay. So the Reds continued their winning form by knocking 7 past a Yeo Hiap Seng (YHS) United team which rolled over and lay down without much of a fight. Goals from Rupen, Shijie, Sia, Shawal & Gabriel (former Knights) confirmed the 3pts for Aevylain Reds but it was Shawal Rosly – probably the Reds’ best signing this summer – who provided the base on which Aevylain built this victory.

Nevertheless, the home team’s defence was put to test in the early minutes of the 2nd half. The visitors capitalized on the Reds’ defensive errors and put YHS United back on leveling terms. There was confusion in Cantonment about whether Yeo's three goals happened within the space of fifteen minutes but everyone agreed that the visitors staged an incredible recovery. The three goals, one of which was an own goal, stunned the tide of Reds’ supporters not into silence, but chants of “Aevylain, Aevylain…”.

Recovering from their shock and with pride at stake, it was not long before the Reds’ determination saw them battle their way back on track. With the final whistle gone, the Reds’ won 7-3. Indeed, it was an outstanding display of football from the lads who played their hearts out and who refused to be beaten!

In the post match interview, skipper Alex had the following to say:

"I think today showed what I've always believed, that we have a side of quality and lads willing to play their hearts out for the club."

"Though the senior players secured the win today and certainly put on a fine display, I was particularly impressed with the younger players...like Christian who embodied the fighting spirit of the team. I never saw a challenged being shirked or a loose ball not being chased after today and that's what really constitutes a good game."

"I played Jon Lau today in the center of the park beside Shawal, as opposed to the wing as I believe he has the quality to play in a central role as well as along the flanks. Moving him into the center also allows me to field some of the younger players along the wings," responding to a queries about changes to the team line up.

When asked about concession of 3 goals early in the second half, the skipper deliberated for a moment before giving his thoughts.

"I think the defence will definitely be asking questions of themselves. Pairing the youth and talent possessed by youngster Zhenwen opposite veteran, defence-leader Ivan in the center of defence will certainly require sometime before they are accustomed to playing alongside one another. Still, I think that they performed admirably barring the goal-rush in the second half."

Report: Aevylain Reds Press Conference 16/11/2005

On 15th November 2005, Aevylain Reds captain/player-manager Alex Pang notified the Reds of an upcoming challenge. The Reds are slated to take on the men from Yeo Hiap Seng United. This exciting match-up is scheduled to take place on our homeground this coming Saturday morning, and the players are all pumped up to take on the giant-slaying task that lies in their path.

Speaking to Aevylain SportsTV, Captain Alex Pang commented tongue-in-cheek, "I am delighted for my lads to be able to take on a team with twice our squad depth, probably twice our age, and a million times our team budget. I'm sure the boys will go out and prove their worth given the quality of our opposition this weekend. Regardless the scoreline, I am hoping we get free Yeo's packet or canned drinks from them!"

During the press conference, Alex Pang also added he was gutted that he, alongside Aevylain Reds top marksman !Keng, will be sidelined for this important friendly due to injuries picked up a month ago. Both individuals are influential members of the team line-up, and the former's goals and latter's crunching tackles, will be sorely missed. Alex revealed his knee injury will sideline him for up to 3 more months, whilst !Keng has already been spotted by reporters engaging in some light training recently.

!Keng, while commenting in an exclusive interview with Aevylain SportsTV, was his usual self joking the whole time. "I'm sure the team will cope without me as we have a whole host of dedicated players who can fill my shoes while I'm still sidelined - even though I'm a size 10!" !Keng said with a cheeky wink. He declined to give an estimated comeback date, reassuring his female fans with the line "Patience is a virtue. Amitabha. I will be baaaaack..."

The "Monster" Zhenghan, who has been drafted in as makeshift-striker in !Keng's absence, immediately chimed in, "Well, he better make sure he returns to full fitness soon... because I'm only a size 9." He continued, "Jokes aside, I will try my best to make sure we get the goals when the chances come along, but it is near impossible to replace a quality player like !Keng - especially with his hard-running and speedy runs upfront for us. We all wish him a speedy return."

However, all is not doom and gloom in the Reds camp as the team welcomes back skilful midfielder Jon Lau and the "Winged Wizard" Dennis to their midfield folds. Both players have not featured for the club in a long while, and this match will see the duo's long-awaited "debut-return" to the squad. Versatile midfield-forward Shijie will also be available for selection following his completion of his finals exams which ruled him out for the past 2 weeks.
Stand-in captain Shawal will be leading the team come Saturday despite a niggling ankle injury.

Aevylain Reds Football Club would like to appeal to fans (who are female), to turn up in full force to support the team. Neutral spectators are also welcomed to head down and see if there will be free Yeo's beverages up for grabs.

This Public Announcement reiterates the Department of Aevylain Reds FC ongoing concerns about the safety of her players, especially those contemplating travel to DblO to get intoxicated, purely wasted and suffer bad hangovers. The Department of Aevylain Reds FC strongly urges her players to defer all non-essential travel to Mohamed Sultan Road. This supersedes the Sep 17, 2005 Public Announcement and expires on May 01, 2006.

Booze and alcohol are not drinkable throughout Mohamed Sultan Road. Caution should be exercised and local advice sought. Bottled mineral water is widely available.

Travel by road after dark when you are drunk is particularly dangerous. Also, all travelers to Mohamed Sultan Road should follow health precautions from the Aevylain Centers for Disease Control should they get horny after having too much to drink.

We strongly recommend that you obtain comprehensive travel and medical insurance before travelling. You should check any exclusions, and that your policy covers you for the activities you want to undertake.

Players planning to travel to Mohamed Sultan Road are encouraged to register and update their contact information at http://aevylainreds-profiles.blogspot.com. Players without Internet access may register directly with Captain Alex Pang. By registering, players make it easier for the club to contact them in case of emergency. However, payment of hospital and other expenses is the responsibility of the drinker. Keng hails Shawal's impact

Meanwhile, when asked about Shawal's impact on today's game, Keng told Aevylain SportsTV that he has played with Tom, Dick and Harry - some of the best central midfielders in the modern game - but he believes none of them compare with Shawal Rosly.

The Korean-Chinese was Reds' heartbeat on Saturday as Alex Pang's men shook the season with a 4-2 victory over the Yellow Submarines.

Shawal only arrived at Cantonment Hill in the summer, but he is already an intrinsic member of Alex Pang's brigade.

"He is just the best athlete for a footballer I have ever seen," said Keng.

"He has got everything - skills, strength, pace, he can run all day, he is clever.

"He is a great player and a natural leader. I have not seen anyone to match him for that. He is fantastic."

Keng also applauded Sia ZH's performance on today's game.

He told Aevylain SportsTV: "Zhenghan, a player who initially struggled to find his most suitable position in the squad, ended all debate when he completed a hat-trick today, including a sensational volley in the 65th min. He's a monster and I wouldn't want to be playing against him."

"Now, I've got something/someone bigger (than my swollen ankle) to worry about!" Keng continued jokingly.

Following the defeats suffered at the hands of 15 year old juveniles, the Reds have decided to field their strongest starting 11 in a bid to reclaim their lost glory. In a rare show of confidence, skipper le capitan Pang released the match formations to the media even before match day. Personally handpicking each and every member of the squad, he was commented to say that they were the best lot of lads he had seen in sometime.

Rangers add to Reds' woes

Raffles Rangers heaped more woe on the Red Roosters with a 0-0 draw at Cantonment Hill as the home side went two consecutive games without a win.

"We want a level of performance and a level of commitment where people can say 'that is much more like it'." Reds' manager/captain Alex told Aevylain SportsTV.

However, this match brought to light three of Red Roosters Under-18s hottest prospects, with the pacy Russell and hard-tackling Zhenwen impressing for the Reds on the right and left flank respectively. Also, Christian continued his impressing start to the campaign, delivering inviting crosses for the forwards. Final score, a respectable 0-0, but with the Reds still struggling to find their winning form.

Meanwhile, Keng thought his Dunman call-up was a friend of his playing a joke on him.

"I didn't recognise the (phone) number and thought it was a wind up (joke) at first," Keng said on Wednesday.

The 20-year-old striker had only played two matches but will travel with the Dunman squad for its friendly against the Uncles-&-their son-in-laws in Pasir Ris on Sunday.

Cock-a-doodle-do

The title sums up what we believe was the performance of our match. The game which took place under the fcuking hot afternoon sun saw our team beaten by a youth side, amicably called the Yellow Submarines, which sank us instead and left our egos buried deep down in the ocean floors. We say, start drafting better players, not Kilkenney.

With morale ebbing away, the Reds could only have themselves to blame for their predicament, with wild passes and ball watching having conceded possession to the home side in the build-up to their 2-0 advantage. Reds' Keng and Roger put the guys back on level terms just before the break.

However, several players found difficulties adapting to the fast pace of the game, with cramps ensuing early in the second half. With 35 mins left before the final whistle, the Reds were boosted with the arrival of the team star defender, Ivan, who arrived to shore up the defensive line. But it was not enough to prevent a splendid counter by the opposition who capitalized on the apparent fitness (or the lack of it) of the Reds to snatch the victory with an easy tap-in. Final score: 3-2

Meanwhile, Kapitan Alex has called for his fallen Reds' heroes to be brave and to turn their pain into a new beginning. And he claims that now is the time for talking to stop - starting next weekend against Raffles Rangers at home - and for actions to speak louder than words.

He said: "We have a great bunch of lads who are hurting at the moment. They work hard together and we are now looking to put it right.

"Generally all round we have not reached the standards we think we should do.

"Early season performances were not too bad but our play of late has not been what we know we can produce.

Alex continued: "I have never doubted any of the players here, they are a brilliant group.

"But what we need now is one or two of them to take chances, be brave on the ball.

"Confidence is a big thing and once a couple get it back it will be like the flu and everybody will catch it."

The Eggs have Hatched!

Aevylain Reds' boss/captain Alex Pang was delighted with his side's debut display in Yishun as they won 4-3 away at the Yishun Ring pitch in a heated friendly.

An early first-half goal from the opposition proved to be enough for the HPU (Hokkien Peng United) until Red's striker Keng leveled just before the break.

In what was a second half that can only be described as thrilling, the team managed to snatch a 4 - 3 victory in its debut game with Keng completing a stunning hat trick and Roger scoring late in the game as the Reds claimed their first win on their travels in this season's matches.

Alex was particularly pleased with the win as the visitors came under pressure in the second 45 minutes after dominating the match before the break.

"It is important to win and be strong in defence," Alex said to Aevylain SportsTV.

"In the second half they played with more wide players and made short passes. It was difficult to control.

"We had to regain the ball higher and create more opportunities. They have very fierce and rough players and they played Blackburn's style football."

Keng echoed the views of his manager/captain and insisted the Reds would not be taking anything for granted in their following match-ups, starting with the Yellow Submarines away in one week' time.

"I don't think it is finished, we have to win more games. It is too early to say we are prepared for the big boys." Keng said to Aevylain SportsTV.

The front-man admits he is hoping for an extended run in the starting line-up but is more concerned with the team winning than getting his name on the scoresheet.

"It is good for me to start and score goals," he said. "It is good for the moment, I feel good but the personal stuff is not important.

"It is better to think positively for the team."

However, we beg to differ on the best man on the pitch.
